TROUBLE WITH THE TRUTH. Admire the way Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl attempts to blatantly manipulate the truth?

Perhaps you should sport your own "Lie Like Luke" sticker, button or magnet. They are for sale online at the Lie Like Luke Weblog at lielikeluke.blogspot.com.

The sporty red-white-and-blue buttons hit the market last week after the Trib caught the mayor in a major falsehood.

Ravenstahl initially denied taking a trip to New York City with Penguins co-owner Ron Burkle the night officials announced the deal for a new $290 million Uptown hockey arena.

Confronted later with additional information about the trip, the mayor 'fessed up.

He had not only accompanied Burkle to the Big Apple, he flew there on the billionaire supermarket magnate's private jet -- and then let Burkle spring for dinner and drinks.

The admission marked the second time in as many months that Ravenstahl was caught in a fib.

After denying it for months, Ravenstahl admitted he was handcuffed and briefly detained after getting into an altercation with a police officer outside Heinz Field before a Steelers game in 2005. No charges were filed against Ravenstahl, then a City Council member.

The Web site's operators continued selling the buttons last week even after Ravenstahl's only competition for the Democrat nomination, city Councilman Bill Peduto, dropped out of the race.

"Just because the voters can't hold Luke accountable at the polls doesn't mean we the citizens of Pittsburgh can't hold him accountable," sniffed the blog's anonymous author.
