  • Alivia Clark, a participant in the district's principal development program, was appointed principal of Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-5 on the North Side in spring 2009 for fall of 2009-10 year. She replaces the retiring Annette Scott Piper.
  • Shemeca Crenshaw, former principal of Pittsburgh Westinghouse High School in Homewood, was appointed principal of Pittsburgh Vann in the Hill District. Vann, now a K-8 school, will revert to a K-5 configuration in the 2009-10 school year and send its middle grade students to the district's university-partnership school in the Hill District.
  • Michele Holly, acting principal of Pittsburgh Westinghouse, was named principal of Pittsburgh Northview PreK-5. She replaces David May, who transferred to the principal's post at Pittsburgh Banksville PreK-5.

Changes with principals in 2011[]

City schools appoint administrators, shuffle principals Thursday, April 28, 2011 By Eleanor Chute, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The Pittsburgh Public Schools board appointed two new high level administrators and made nine principal assignments Wednesday evening.

The board named David May-Stein, principal of Pittsburgh Colfax K-8, as the assistant superintendent of K-8 and middle schools. It also named Virginia Hill, principal of Stevens K-8, as the executive director of curriculum, instruction and professional development. The agenda said there were vacancies in both positions.

Principals who were reassigned for the 2011-12 school year are:

• Kellie Abbott, now principal of Peabody High School, which is closing this year, will become co-principal of Westinghouse 6-12, which is scheduled to turn into single-gender academies.

• Shawn McNeil, now principal of Westinghouse, will become co-principal at Westinghouse.

• Leah-Rae Bivins, now principal of Faison PreK-8, which will serve fewer grades this fall and will be restaffed, will become principal of Schaeffer K-8.

• Alvin Gipson, principal of Miller PreK-5, will become principal of Faison.

• Kimberly Safran, principal of Arlington PreK--8, will become co-principal of the Teacher Academy at Brashear High School.

• Kevin McGuire, principal of the Faison intermediate campus, will become principal of Arlington

In addition, the board selected three employees who have been serving in a principal training program -- Pittsburgh Emerging Leadership Academy, known as PELA -- to principal posts:

• Molly O'Malley-Argueta, a PELA resident at Colfax, will become principal of Stevens.

• Adam Sikorski, a PELA resident at Colfax, will become principal of Colfax.

• Margaret Starkes-Ross, a PELA resident at Langley High School, will become principal of Miller.
